When Should You Replace Your PVC Strip Curtains

Here at PVC Strip, we supply a range of high-quality PVC products including PVC strip curtains, PVC welding screens, and PVC sheets. One of our most popular products is PVC strip curtains, which are designed to create an easy access doorway in many settings such as pedestrian doorways, industrial doorways, hospitality, and schools and nurseries.

All of our PVC products are manufactured to last long-term, made from durable and thick PVC. However, just like any other product that is used daily, they can become damaged from age and constant usage. We are proud to be one of the UK’s largest distributors and manufacturers of PVC strip curtains, and we are experts in the industry. With this in mind, we know what damage you should look out for when maintaining your curtains. Find below, a list of what you need to look out for.

Scratches

PVC curtains are incredibly tough, and they are designed for day-to-day use in places such as warehouses. Scratches are one of the most common forms of PVC damage, as a result of continuous exploitation. The transparent PVC can become very scratched and marked over time, which causes the material to become cloudy and opaque. Unfortunately, the scratches can build up to a point where visibility is significantly reduced, which may put your workers at risk. Eventually, it will need replacing.

Cracks

PVC is available in a range of grades (standard, welding, perforated, and so on), which are suited for different applications. Particularly in colder temperatures, the PVC grade must be chosen appropriately, for it to withstand the climate. If you have installed PVC strip curtains in a fridge or freezer setting, polar grade PVC should have been used. In the case that a different grade has been used, it will become rigid from suffering from too much pressure. At PVC Strip, we offer hospitality curtain kits that are obtainable in polar grade, and that will remain flexible and soft up to -40 degrees.

Flexibility

PVC curtains endure a lot of stress, which causes them to become stiff. When PVC loses its flexibility, it will be harder to pass through them, and you will need to think about replacing them.

Missing Pieces

Missing chunks and rips are a fairly rare occurrence, as PVC is very thick however, with repetitive use and contact with heavy machinery and equipment, they can become damaged. If you notice that your curtains have missing chunks, it would be wise to replace them.

Discolouration

PVC can become discoloured from both age and stubborn dirt. One of the primary reasons for installing PVC curtains is because they are clear, dividing doorway areas for easy access and visibility. If your PVC curtains are discoloured, it defeats their purpose. Hopefully, by cleaning your curtains the dirt should reduce but, if the PVC itself has altered, it might be time for a change.

If you need to replace your PVC strip curtains, we offer PVC strip rolls per metre or 50 metre, that can be purchased in various grades, thicknesses, and colours to meet your specific needs. These products will save you both time and money, as you do not need to purchase a whole new curtain kit.
